“Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle.”
― Napoleon Hill
Appreciate Harsh Adversity
After I left my job in 2016 to start my venture of helping others, I had the intention of making it grow into a profitable business.
But as I have discovered, rarely does life unfold the way I want it to. It has mysterious and insightful methods of telling me what I need to learn.
It’s my arena for growth.
Despite not creating a sustainable income within my projected timeline, I gained numerous important skills and lessons. On top of doing meaningful work, I acquired valuable wisdom and made new relationships.
Although I was confronted with difficult challenges, I wanted to continue. As a result, I decided to grow my business on the side while working full time.
This was not a sign of defeat, but simply a pivot. That’s because my definition of failure would be giving up on my dream of doing what I love while helping others.
Not letting my ego and others’ opinions control me, I found another way to generate a steady income. Having peace of mind knowing all my expenses are paid for, I can use the free time outside of my job to focus on my venture.
This winning strategy allows me to help myself and others.
While being in the pit of struggles, I was tempted to call it quits because that would be the easier thing to do. However, my deep sense of purpose prevailed and enabled me to persevere.
Embrace Uncertainty
If you have a deep and burning desire for something, you must be willing to fight for it even if you don’t know what the outcome might be.
Trust the process, and more importantly, believe in yourself.
You can be your biggest ally or enemy. Choose the former and let it be your strongest proponent.
Give yourself the best chance to achieve your goals and dreams by first learning to help yourself. That way, you can create opportunities for others to do the same.
Your network of relationships will be an invaluable asset when trying to achieve your goals. They will build connections and possibilities through introductions. As a result, they can propel you forward to greater heights.
And in times of need, they can be your triumphant supporters in solving problems. By working together and assisting each other, you both mutually benefit from the relationship.
Understand this important fact:
No matter what happens in life, you can handle it.
The time it requires to overcome your unique challenges may vary which depends on your experience, knowledge, and support from others.
As you conquer more obstacles, you’ll gain more trust and confidence in yourself to confront uncertainty and drawbacks.
Complete Your Hero’s Journey
Life is inevitably filled with difficulties and issues. They are designed to help you grow.
And as a courageous and powerful warrior, you wouldn’t want it any other way. That’s because an adventurous life contains both ups and downs. It’s in the darkest moments that you build resilience, fortitude, and grit to move forward.
This creates a better story.
If your life were a movie, would you want to watch it?
Your challenge presents a moment of decision. It’s your golden opportunity to stand and rise as a relentless and determined soldier.
By embarking on your hero’s journey, you have the chance to complete it and learn invaluable lessons. Without going through your necessary transformation, you won’t absorb those teachings.
After completing the rite of passage, you become stronger and wiser. Afterward, you can share with others your life-changing realizations.
Ask yourself:
“What am I willing to suffer, bleed, or even die for?”
Discover those powerful nuggets of wisdom through your own personal experience. The level of magnitude will be that much deeper because of your hands-on understanding.
You won’t have the same effect if you had gained the knowledge from reading a book or hearing it from someone else. By enduring and conquering those defeats, you’ll internalize those findings.
No matter how difficult your hardships may be, there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.
You can take as many breaks as you want, but don’t stop moving. Regardless of how steep the climb is, maintain persistence and march forward.
Gain the information you want by finishing the course. Your future self will thank you for it, and so will those who will learn from you.
Closing Thoughts
Motivation might get you started on your dream.
But to complete anything takes discipline, persistence, and determination.
Why even begin something if you’re not willing to finish it?
Give yourself the gift of getting things done.
This way, you’ll feel congruent because your actions are aligned with your intentions.
As the snowball effect increases, you’ll produce more trust, belief, and confidence in yourself, allowing you to take on any task, regardless of how intimidating it may be.
You understand struggles are a necessary part of growth and evolution. Hence, you welcome them with open arms.
And as soon as you defeat those trials and tribulations, you’ll evolve and gain important lessons in your plethora arsenal of wisdom.
