The Samurai Mindset
Every morning after my meditation practice, I remind myself how lucky I am. In my mind, I appreciate the following:
- This very moment that I am alive.
- The wonderful opportunity to take care of my body, mind, and spirit.
- The blessing to live a human life in health and sickness.
- To be on the journey and be exactly where I need to be.
- The wisdom and knowledge that I have, which are always more than enough.
Additionally, I acknowledge the following:
- All the achievements I have accomplished.
- All the incredible memories and fun experiences I have created.
- And all the loving relationships I have built.
- Family
- Parents
- Brother
- Niece
- Partner
- Close friends
- People who have made a huge impact (positive and negative) in my life.
- Animals that have added joy to my life.
- Everyone whom I have met and those I will meet in the future.
I am grateful for all because they have helped me become who I am today and in the future.
Lastly, I count the essentials that allow me to live my current lifestyle which include the following:
- Bed
- Toothbrush
- Water filter
- Clothes
- Yoga mat
Filled with abundance, I can’t help but feel more than enough.
There’s a chance I may die today.
Therefore, I don’t take anything for granted. To take complete advantage of this precious opportunity, I live fully and have no regrets.
Realizing today can be my last day on Earth, I do my best to spread it all out in the world by leaving nothing unspoken and no tasks left undone. This allows me to go to bed in peace.
That’s because if I were to be gone at this moment, I won’t have any regrets.
One Day One Life Mentality
One of the hardest things to do is to live in the present moment because of two main reasons:
- Wanting to change the past for the better.
- Hoping the future can come sooner thinking it is better than the present moment.
The present moment is the bridge that links the two.
To create a great past, you must live well now. That’s because the present will soon become your past.
And when you thrive in the present moment, you give yourself the best chance to create a bright future.
By not getting distracted by the past or being anxious about the future, you can truly focus on the now.
If you have the ability to wake up every morning, you have the grand choice to live. It is in this rare opportunity that you can build something which can be everlasting.
When you can go to sleep knowing you did all you could and said what you desired to those you love, you are living your truth.
Don’t postpone your fulfillment and happiness.
Realize this:
This unique moment won’t ever happen again.
Every second of your life will be different.
Therefore, treat every second as the unique gift that it deserves.
Earn Your Desires
Every day marks a new beginning.
What you did yesterday is in the past. Today, you must again put in the work.
That’s how great results are built. It’s about consistency and playing to win the long game. This applies to every aspect of life.
Take health as an example, you have to put in the necessary efforts on a consistent basis to be in great shape. The same is for your relationships and job/business.
You have to show up regularly to make your connections thrive and improve your skillsets.
By putting in your best performance in everything you do, you can live with more equanimity even if the events don’t go as planned.
That’s because you realize the only thing you can control is yourself and your actions. It is your level of self-mastery that enables you the courage to let go and accept reality. Afterward, you can fully move on and concentrate on your next steps.
It requires strength to release what no longer serves you.
This allows you to innovate new ways of thinking and doing. Perhaps you may have to change your plans to achieve your desired results.
Use life’s feedback as guidance to mold your course of action toward your desired outcomes.
Closing Thoughts
Each day is a beautiful gift that brings you the opportunity to create something extraordinary, which doesn’t have to be grandiose.
Give yourself time and space to simply enjoy life. Savor the small moments such as the following:
- Feeling the sunshine heating up your face
- Appreciating the smell of flowers
- Hearing birds chirp on the trees
Give yourself the present to appreciate the little things that make life fragile yet magnificent. Don’t take for granted the amazing blessing to purely live.
It’s a miracle for you to be here.
The chance of you being born is one in a million. Think of the number of sperms that were fighting to be with that one elusive egg. Only one won the race, and you’re the result of it.
Live your precious life by creating unforgettable memories and impactful experiences. Don’t squander it doing uneventful and mundane tasks.
